This fabulous ring positively drips with Art Deco glamour. A deep red carnelian is cut and faceted into an elongated hexagon shape. The stone is bezel set within an elaborate sterling silver frame spangled with twinkling marcasite. Gorgeous Chinoiserie designs have been engraved on the ring's shoulders and the underside of the gallery, it is wonderful from every angle. Carnelian, marcasite and silver are a classic Art Deco combination, this is a particularly stunning example of the style. Circa 1920.
The 1920s saw a Chinoiserie craze: Chinese art, design and fashion were wildly popular and exerted a strong influence on the western world. Fashionable women adorned themselves with jewelry inspired by a Chinese aesthetic.
